We hope you had a wonderful holiday with your friends and loved ones! I for one enjoyed every minute of my family time. My husband and I enjoyed family walks with our sweet Barkley and many holiday parties with incredible food and the best festive beverages! As this year is quickly coming to an end, I can’t help but review the incredible year we had here at Wedding Co!
The company hit many milestones and we were a part of 32 beautiful love stories! It was a challenging but extremely fulfilling year and I couldn’t be more proud of the strides we made as a company. Here is a little summary of our year in review.
January – March
We spent the entire fall of 2017 gearing up for the transition of bringing our new team members on. By February, our wedding season was in full swing and we had our very first double wedding day. Wedding Co. had 8 team members executing 2 perfect wedding days simultaneously. This was a big deal for our little company, considering the year before we were limited to only 1 wedding a day. Luckily, both weddings went off without a hitch and I didn’t have a breakdown, which was definitely something I feared might happen!
April – June
These 3 months were a blur. There were a couple weekends where we had 3 weddings in just two days. It was chaotic, it was exhausting and it was amazing! During this time, I was just trying to get my bearings right. I was still learning how to have a team while executing 28 of my own weddings and there were many days where I thought I was going to have a breakdown (see a theme here? Maybe I should call this the year of potential breakdowns)! But we made it through and each and every client that we had was such a dream to work with!
In June we had the opportunity to do something we had never done before…..a double wedding! Two sisters, Lawren and Alex got engaged within months of each other and decided to have a shared wedding day. Logistically it was super challenging to figure out how to do this. I thought there would be a bunch of education out there on this, but there wasn’t, so we kind of winged the plan and it worked!
July – August
Our July wedding season was supposed to be a busy one, but with some changes to our wedding schedule, it was surprisingly slow. We had just one wedding in August and it was magical. During this “slow-time,” we mapped out a new website and storefront plan for Wedding Co. It took many many sheets of paper to brainstorm how this was going to work along with an insane amount of trello cards to get all of my thoughts of how we would achieve new branding, a new site and a shop all in 4-5 months time, on top of the fall wedding season!
September – 1/2 of November
Whew! I think during this time I blacked out a little bit. These wedding months were insane. We had weddings every weekend and multiple weddings on some weekends. Again, I don’t know how I survived this time and I’m pretty sure I hardly saw my husband or family during these long 12 weeks! But we had the opportunity to design some of the prettiest wedding designs we have ever dreamed up.
Really that’s all I can say about these months because really ya’ll….it was non-stop and I feel like I would have to do an entirely separate story to tell you #allthethings that went down in these months. But here are some of the incredible weddings, in case you want to review.
November – December
Our last wedding of the season was over Thanksgiving weekend. And we did something I had been dreaming of for quite a while. We executed a wedding in Charlottesville at Veritas Vineyards. For those of you in the wedding industry, you know how hard it is to break into this area for weddings when you are an outsider. It was everything I thought it would be and more. We are dying to get back there and hope that our 2019 wedding season takes us back!
After Sean and Casey’s wedding day, it was time to get rolling! I had just a couple weeks before I wanted to officially launch our new brand, new site, and new shop! I secretly made a deadline of launching on Cyber Monday, but guess what ya’ll? It just didn’t happen! I had way too much to do and finish. But in early December, it finally happened…..WE LAUNCHED! And the outpouring of love was overwhelming!
THANK YOU to each and every one of you who supported us through the crazy!
So that was our year in a nutshell! As we enjoy these last few days of 2018, I can’t help but think of all the amazing things that Wedding Co. has in store for 2019. We now have official employees. We are hosting our first ever, virtual workshop about expanding the team (side note 1: snag your seat soon…registration ends January 4th & side note 2: December 26th will be the final day you can get your seat to the workshop for $179! Checkout and use promo code: WEDDINGCOLAUNCH and side note 3: Brides and creatives who want to get something from our shop can also use the code to get a free or discounted item too), and we already have 14 Wedding Co. couples on the calendar and can’t wait to be a part of more.
I don’t know what the future holds for Wedding Co. but I do know that this past year was better than I could have imagined and I am so grateful that we get to do what we love every day because of you! Thank you again for making our 2018 the best year ever and thank you for your continued support as we go into our 2019 year!
Cheers,
Jess
