The months leading up to Christine and John’s wedding was just like any other wedding preparation. We were set to execute a gorgeous wedding ceremony at St. Bede Catholic Church followed by a romantic outdoor cocktail hour followed by an outdoor, tented reception at the William & Mary Alumni House. The week of the wedding, those plans were threatened by the Category 4 Hurricane Matthew. The Hurricane was expected to make landfall the day of Christine and John’s wedding day. I don’t know how she did it but, Christine stayed calm and continued to gracefully accept every scenario we threw at her that week. Our scenarios ranged from moving everything inside and changing the full setup of the reception to me secretly attempting to find a new venue space in case the College was forced to shutdown, leaving the couple with no venue. We prepared for the worst and hoped for the best. Luckily, the Hurricane’s path changed in the three days leading up to the big day and we were able to continue on with the day almost just as planned!
Christine and John’s love for one another was truly evident. The two were there for each other in what could have been a terrible ending that the two were not prepared for. Sometimes wedding days don’t always come with the vision we all planned or even go as smoothly as we all hope, but when our couples stay strong through the unknown, it makes their day that much more special! Christine and John, we wish you all the best in this next chapter of your lives and remember…No relationship is all sunshine, but once you’ve learned how to play in the rain, you’ve discovered the secret to surviving the passing storm together!
