Weddings are expensive! Especially in the Williamsburg, VA area. According to the Wedding Report, the average James City County wedding costs $27,000+. To be honest, this budget doesn’t take you too far, unless you are smart with your planning!
Your largest and initial wedding costs are your venue and food/alcohol. If you can save in these two areas, your budget will take you much farther! So where are the more affordable venues in the WIlliamsburg, VA area? Buckle up ladies….you are about to get excited again about planning your big day when you learn about these 4 venues that are affordable and beautiful!
1. Legacy Hall in New Town. This space is neutral, on the larger side (can fit up to 160 guests seated) and centrally located in Williamsburg. There are three spaces within the venue for your big day. Imagine your wedding ceremony on an expansive, lush green lawn, followed by a cocktail hour on a paved patio which then leads into an indoor wedding reception. At just $100/hour or $1000 maximum fee for the day to rent an over 2300 square foot space, you can’t find a better deal. Perhaps, the best part in all of this is that you can also bring in your vendors and your own alcohol as long as your provide event insurance for the day of and insured/licensed caterers. 2. Williamsburg Community Building. If you have always dreamed of having a historic wedding and have to be as close to downtown as possible, the most affordable option is the Williamsburg Community Building. This space also provides a lawn for your ceremony or cocktail hour and a neutral palette.to accommodate any wedding theme. Not much smaller than Legacy Hall, the community building can seat up to 150 guests. 3. Freedom Park Interpretive Center. This is a special little spot to me. My bridal shower and wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted in this space as well as my friends baby showers. You guys get ready for the cost on this one, because your mouth is going to drop. If you are a resident of James City County, the meeting room (can fit up to 32 guests) and the patio is just $60/hour for the first 3 hours and $30 for each hour after that. Because this is another county building, you can bring those outside vendors on site as well. While the indoor space is much smaller, the lawn and the patio allow for a beautiful reception space that is stunning and affordable. Head over to the
site to learn more about this space.
4. Settlement at Powhatan. I know you are going to think this one is expensive compared to the others we’ve talked about today, but it’s still a great price. At $2500 for over 15,000 square feet with a pretty ballroom feel and outdoor space on a lake, it is a steal! The rental of this room includes your tables, fabric padded chairs, a wooden bar, and a wireless microphone at no additional cost.
